An unexpected afternoon out of the office and at my home computer is giving me a chance to explore Blogger features. I see how someone could spend a considerable amount of time working on a blog. The options for editing seem endless.

I want to experiment with adding links into my posts. Here is one with special meaning to Wichita Public Library. Several members of our staff worked for several months with representatives from local non-profit Trees for Life to create video training on reading picture books to children. At first thought, this may not seem like something where training is required. In reality, however, there are many factors to be considered when selecting and reading a book to a child.  This series of videos was prepared as a tool for people working in countries that are receiving new libraries through the Trees for Life/Books for Life program.  Within the last 48 hours, we've received letters of appreciation from people working in two countries - in two very different parts of the world - who have benefitted from the information in these videos. As the Iron Chef's say "Enjoy!"

Week 1: Blogging

And so it begins. The first lesson in my journey to become 2.0 proficient. Blogging is not unlike the weekly column I write for our library employee newsletter - only there I have others who provide the format and check my tone. Here I'm left to my own devices. I'm looking forward to where this learning will lead.
